Still Life…the list is endless of still life art, still life with Graphite Pencils, Paints, Charcoal and so the list goes on .The senior students of grade 9 O’ Level Art were testing their skills in still life, although the work is quiet immature because it’s from the time when they actually started using charcoal so to add the twist in their activity i suggested to add paint at the back ground,the concept was to do still life with some fun.Reason?? the students were bored with same black and white colours. So, i decided to break some rules and add paint in their lesson. Once students finish drawing the basic image, they add the shading with charcoal, finally students added paint of their choice at the back ground ,once the paint dried it gave an effect of imposed image.Try it you will like it .

A color wheel or color circle is an abstract illustrative organization of color hues around a circle that shows relationships betweenprimary colors, secondary colors, complementary colors, etc.I i ask you what colour do you like??the reply would be “Red”,”Yellow” or “BLUE” but there are many reds , yellows and blues and we can differentiate between them by the colour wheel because of the different tints and hues every colour has.Our topic is Colour Wheel and Doodling,it explains it all Colour wheel is used as a helping aid by young artists to explore the ways they can use it and Doodling which is black and white is to teach them about the “Neutral Colours’.So, Bingo!! you are learning 2 lessons in one.

Doodles are shapes, patterns, drawings or scribbles – anything we produce in an idle moment while the focus of our attention is elsewhere. It’s amazing how creative we can be without even trying! and when we blend Doodles with colours the blend is amazing .Our students learnt about colours and mixing 2 art mediums in one,painting and felt pens.Enjoy the creativity of young minds.

“The Red Hat” is a topic of painting by the famous Netherlands artist Johannes Vermeer(1632-1675). Vermeer‘s paintings focused on everyday life scenes from neighborhoods in the city of Delft. His subject matter depicts ordinary people and narratives of domesticity in the 17th century. Vermeer was popular for his realistic paintings and thus he can be described as painter of the people for the people.

Although Vermeer held nothing original in his artistic interpretation and subject, he was extremely skilled in creating superb pieces of art. He didn’t create many self portraits, focusing instead on objects that took the viewer to an image as he saw it. Vermeer does not create a specific narrative in his works like his contemporaries did but instead focuses on the moment itself and the rest of the story is created by the viewer.

His famous painting “Girl with the Red Hat” has always been artist’s center of attraction, many artists tried to paint a remake of the original or their own inspiration of “Red Hat”. Our students of grade 8 tried their own version of the same painting ,hope you all like it.
